Laure Barras obtained a Bachelor's degree in Middle Eastern Studies and Arabic in Paris as well as an actor diploma from the Cours Florent. Laure Barras received a Master's degree with honours in voice interpretation at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne (Switzerland). She is currently pursuing her opera studies at the Hannover Musikhochschule.

She started her singing career in Switzerland performing roles such as Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni (Ouverture-Opéra), Annina in La traviata (Opéra du Rhône) and Giulia in Rossini's La scala di seta (Ticino Musica). Other projects included concert performances in Beirut, New York, Washington DC, Bern, Ascona and Freiburg.

Among her most recent engagements are the role of Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Oper Schloss of Hallwyl), Papagena in Die Zauberflöte (Opéra du Rhône), Mimi in La bohème (both at Klassik in der Altstadt Festival 2013, Hannover) and many other performances. During the 2013-2014 season Laure Barras was a member of the Studio of the Opera of Lyon singing the role of Laurie in Copland's The Tender Land and the Niece in Britten's Peter Grimes.
