The joint concert of Bruno de Sá, the mesmerizing Brazilian male soprano, and the ensemble nuovo barocco invites the audience on a musical journey that transports them to the world of Baroque opera while embracing the freshness and innovation of the present day. At the heart of the program are the legendary castrato singers – the undisputed stars of the 17th- and 18th-century opera stage. The carefully curated selection of arias and orchestral works – featuring composers such as Handel, Vivaldi, Porpora, and Hasse – showcases the richness and variety of the “sopranisti” repertoire. Bruno de Sá, one of today’s most outstanding male sopranos, conjures the spirit of these extraordinary singers with his astonishing vocal range and virtuosity. He is accompanied by nuovo barocco, led by Greek–Austrian concertmaster Dimitris Karakantas, performing on period instruments for an authentically Baroque sound experience.
