APPLICATION OPENS AT 5TH ÉVA MARTON INTERNATIONAL SINGING COMPETITION

APPLICATIONS FOR THE CONTEST – BEING STAGED BETWEEN 5-11 SEPTEMBER 2022, WITH TOTAL PRIZE MONEY AMOUNTING TO €70,000 – CAN BE SUBMITTED BY SENDING IN VIDEO RECORDINGS UNTIL 25 APRIL.

The international competition organized by the Liszt Academy for the fith occasion will be held in four rounds. 18-32 years old women and 18-35 years old men can submit applications for the qualifying round on the competition website at the latest by 25 April 2022. As part of the application, candidates have to upload video performances of freely selected arias: one Baroque and one from another period, with piano or orchestral accompaniement. The competition secretariat will publish a notice on the decision of the jury headed by Éva Marton by 20 May 2022.

The venue for the rounds and final (open to the public) between 5-11 September 2022 will be the Liszt Academy. Due to live online streaming, the competition can be followed throughout Hungary and anywhere in the world. In addition to the prizes totalling €70,000, the very best competitors can also collect numerous special prizes including  concert invitations and scholarships.

The international jury of the live rounds of the competition, held with the support of the Hungarian government, will be chaired by Éva Marton. Hungarian and international celebrities of the opera world were again invited to be members of the prestigious panel: Miguel Lerín, one of the most influential art managers; Peter Mario Katona, casting director at the Royal Opera House in London; Anatoli Goussev, a Ukrainian-born tenor and singer living and working in Italy; Dmitry Vdovin, director of the youth opera programme at the Bolshoi Theater; Italian tenor Vittorio Terranova; Slovak tenor Peter Dvorsky; Andrea Meláth, head of the Singing Department of the Liszt Academy; and Szilveszter Ókovács, director general of the Hungarian State Opera House.
