Born in Crema (Italy) in 1992, Eleonora Filipponi is an Italian mezzo and studies at the moment under the guidance of the Ukrainian mezzo Nadiya Petrenko.

Since January 2019 she has sung the role of Dorabella (Mozart’s Così fan tutte) at the IV. International Competition “A. Pessina” in Garlasco (PV), debuted in the role of Maddalena in Verdi’s Rigoletto at Teatro Lirico di Magenta, and sung Dorabella in Così fan tutte, Carmen at Teatro Giuseppe Verdi (Busseto), Isabella in Rossini’s L’italiana in Algeri, and Zita in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi at the Wiener Kammeroper (Vienna Summer Music Festival), Tisbe in La Cenerentola and the role of Flora at the Montecatini Opera Festival. In August 2019 she sang at the Opernfest Prague and in September she was given a scholarship by Raina Kabaivanska at Sofia Opera and Ballet. In October she won third prize at Fausto Ricci International Opera Singing Competition in Viterbo. Between November and December 2019, she sang Così fan tutte in Garlasco (Teatro Martinetti), Rigoletto in Varese (Teatro Condominio) and La Cenerentola in Milan. In December 2019 she entered the Accademia del Teatro Comunale in Bologna (Scuola dell’Opera Italiana), becoming a student in the class of 2020 under the guidance of Luciana D’Intino.

In October 2020 she sang at the Teatro Comunale Pavarotti-Freni in Modena to celebrate Luciano Pavarotti’s anniversary, under the baton of Roberto Molinelli. In the same month, she also debuted in the role of Second Witch in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas at the Teatro Comunale Pavarotti-Freni, under the baton of Mario Sollazzo and with the direction of Stefano Monti.

In February 2021 she won 2nd prize at the VI Vano Visioli International Opera Competition (online edition). In July 2021 she debuted as Clarina in Rossini’s La cambiale di matrimonio at the Teatro Grande in Brescia and she sang in a recital at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna under the baton of Salvatore Percacciolo. In August 2021 she debuted as Ernestina in Rossini’s L’occasione fa il ladro at Teatro dei Rozzi in Siena (Chigiana Musical Academy), while between July and October 2021 she debuted in the role of Lindora in Stradella’s Moro per amore, under the baton of Andrea De Carlo (Ensemble Mare Nostrum) and the direction of Fabiano Pietrosanti. In November 2021 she gave her debut as Romeo in Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi in Crema. In January 2022 she won 2nd prize at 5th International Music Competition “Città di Alessandria”.

About future engagements, in the season 2021/2022 she will debut as Varvara (Janáček’s Káťa Kabanová), Marcellina (Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro), Dryad (R. Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos) and Maddalena (Verdi’s Rigoletto) at Theater Ulm. In June 2022 she will make her debut as Laura in Verdi’s Luisa Miller at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna under the baton of Daniel Oren, in July 2022 she will be Tisbe in Rossini’s La Cenerentola for Ticino Musica in Lugano, while between September and October 2022 she will debut in the role of Marta and cover the role of Pantalis in Boito’s Mefistofele at theTeatro Comunale Pavarotti-Freni in Modena and at the Teatro Municipale in Piacenza.

Besides her career as a mezzo soprano, in 2016 she obtained her Master’s degree in Literature and Foreign Languages, in 2017 she got her Master’s in Methods for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders in Florence and in October 2018 she graduated in Vocal Performance at ISSM (Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali) “Claudio Monteverdi” in Cremona.
