Praised for his romantic Italianate sound, Mexican-American tenor Galeano Salas is just about to start his first season as an ensemble member of the Bavarian State Opera. There he will be reprising the role of Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi - after stepping in last minute in December 2017, then conducted by maestro Kirill Petrenko. At the same venue, he has sung Gastone in La traviatawith Placido Domingo, Diana Damrau and Charles Castronovo, but he could be welcomed in many other smaller parts by the German audience as well. Outside engagements include the Italian Singer in Richard Strauss' Capriccio with the Santa Fe Opera the Duke of Mantua in Verdi's Rigoletto, Rodolfo in La bohème, Alfredo in La traviata, Mario Ruoppolo in Il Postino, Ferrando in Così fan tutte. His recent oratorio work includes the tenor solo parts of Haydn's Stabat Mater, Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, Mozart’s Requiem, and Händel's Messiah. He is an accomplished laureate of several international vocal contests.
