From the age of five Ms Matei participated in productions of the Ukrainian Theater of Beregovo, and from the age of seven she also started to take choreography lessons. She went on to study music at the D. Zador Music Secondary School and since 2013, she has been attending the Petro Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine in Kyiv in Angelina Shvachka’s class. As a performer Olesia Matei took second place in the Ukrainian vocal competition “Region of Songs” and also was the winner of the Grand Prize at the international vocal contest “Grand Prix Karpatia”. In November 2014, she performed Edward Elgar's Sea Pictures with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Chernovci. In recent years, as a soloist Ms Matei has sung frequently in collaboration with the National Philharmonics of Ukraine in Uzhgorod (2013), Vinnica (2015), Kiyv (2016). Besides her singing career, she is also active as a scriptwriter and a stage director.
