Chelekhova, Ekaterina
No. 11
Voice type: Soprano
Country: Canada
Date of birth: 29 November, 1995
The Russian-born soprano found her vocation unusually early. She was only four when she won her first singing competition in her home town, Kaliningrad. After she moved to Canada with her family, at the age of ten, she debuted on the stage as a member of the children’s choir in Bizet’s Carmen. In 2014, she was admitted to the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan, where she is going to pursue an MA after her Bachelor of Art degree in opera studies. In addition to singing, she has been playing the piano since her childhood and has a degree in music education. Despite her young age, she has been invited to sing pivotal operatic parts, such as Adalgisa in Bellini’s Norma in 2017 and the title role of Rusalka in Dvořák’s composition. She also enjoys performing in improvisational concerts.
