Bass-baritone Benjamin Molonfalean was born in Targu-Mures, Romania. Shortly after graduating from the Highschool of Arts in his hometown in 2012, he was accepted at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. From 2012 to 2017 Benjamin obtained both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the Academy. During his studies he sang the Forester in Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen and the title role in Le nozze di Figaro. 

In 2015 Benjamin attended master classes with Constance Fee and Gábor Bretz at the Crescendo Summer Institute in Tokaj (Hungary). He has also studied vocal technique with David Jones in New York and Sherman Lowe in Treviso, Italy. In 2017 he made his debut at the Århus Sommeropera in the production of the newly written opera Darwin by Niels Martinsen. 

In 2018 he sang the bass part in Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle at Maribo Cathedral (Denmark) and in 2019 he sang the title role in Don Pasquale with Opera Prima Wien in the Friuli region of Italy. Benjamin was also part of the Malmö Opera Academy from 2020 to 2021, where he took master classes with Anna Larsson and Iréne Theorin and worked with baritone John Lundgren as his voice teacher. In August, 2021 he reached the semifinals of the 19th Ada Sari International Vocal Artistry Competition. 

Since the 2021/22 season he has been part of the International Opera Studio at Zürich Opera House where he performed in Tosca, Le comte Ory and Dialogues des carmélites. Future engagements for this season include Usciere in Rigoletto at the Zürich Opera House and Sarastro in Trollflöjten at Vattnäs Konsertlada, Sweden.
