Kim Sung Bin

The Dean of Academic Affairs and professor of Music at Daeshin University, South-Korea, graduated from the Seoul National University and then earned his PhD at the American Catholic University at Washington. He made his role debut as Tamino in The Magic Flute in the USA, and later he performed as the tenor soloist of works such as the in Messiah, Die Schöpfung, played Eisenstein the Die Fledermaus, the leading roles of La Traviata and L`elisir d`amore.  Having returned from the US in 2001, he gave a solo recital at the Daegu Culture & Arts Center. Besides his singing career, Sung Bin Kim also acts as a producer. In 2007, he was appointed artistic director of the Daegu City Opera Company for six years. Then he chaired the Daegu International Opera Festival between 2010 and 2013. During this time, he staged fifteen opera productions. From 2013 until 2015, he was granted the position of Director of the Daegu Opera House Foundation. He has been asked to participate in the juries of several international music competitions, such as the Giacinto Prandelli, the Ferruccio Talgliavini and the Elena Obraztsova contests. Besides his academical offices, he is the chairman of the Federation of Artistic & Cultural Organizations,the vice-chairman of the Music Association and member of the Arts Promotion Committee in Daegu City.
